Attention all Vault Dwellers: This is the party you'll want to get out of cryosleep for! Plan the perfect, totally geeked out Fallout themed party! If you've played the game, you know. It's a post-apocalyptic environment set in the year 2077, but everything has an old school 1950's vibe. It's an open world game, so you can go wherever you want, whenever you want. I take days off of doing quests just to build up and decorate my settlements. I really ended up loving the game so much, I had to do a themed party to celebrate my completion of the game.

It's an open world game, so you can go wherever you want, whenever you want. I take days off of doing quests just to build up and decorate my settlements. I really ended up loving the game so much, I had to do a themed party to celebrate my completion of the game.

Around the beginning of 2021, I decided to play the video game that my husband has played for thousands of hours throughout the last 6 years, Fallout 4. I created a vault dweller girl and began my quest. My husband sat by me and played the guitar so I wouldn't get lost or too scared. Oh and trust me, I got lost a lot! Spatial awareness and navigation are NOT my strong suit, so there was a lot of backtracking on my part. I made tropical oasis settlements, downloaded some mods to help and had a complete blast playing Fallout 4. I loved the conversations with NPC's and companion characters too. I really feel like the game was geared toward playing a female character so it was the perfect combination of war and parties.

I used a couple of walkthroughs to help me finish off the game in the way I desired, where everyone was kind of friends. I just obliterated the entire Institute, so I will probably play through the game again with a different outcome at some point during a long, cold Winter.

Alright! Let's get to this Vault-tacular party!

Fallout 4 Party Supplies Needed:

  • Scrap. Lots of scrap.
Look around the house, garage, shed or grandpa's house. Gather anything with a 1950's vibe, plus some junk. Old paint cans, metal barrels, soup cans, desk fan, ammo boxes, gear bags, tool boxes, tools, old rotary phone, filing cabinet, beer bottles, bobby pins, bottle caps, wood pallets. Pretty much anything you could pick up in the game works.
Now we'll go through some quick craft tutorials and I'll show you how to turn ordinary things into Vault Tech.

Fallout 4 Nuka Cola Caps

Bottle caps are the currency of the game, so they are pretty important. We always save our caps, they are just so fun and useful.

Supplies Needed:

Bottle Caps

Check out these steampunk magnets made with bottle caps too. Supplies Needed: Bottle Caps Spray Paint Cricut Machine Printable Sticker Paper Printer Nuka Cola Label Coilless Safety Pins

Step 1 for Nuka Cola Caps:

We are simply making stickers for the tops of the caps. Sticker making is lots of fun using the Cricut machine, but can be done with a printer and cut by hand. Check out this post on STICKER MAKING WITH CRICUT for more detailed instructions.

Begin by importing the cap image into Cricut Design Space. I had to do this individually for each cap. Then print them on sticker paper.

Step 2 for Nuka Cola Caps:

Place your caps on a paper inside a cardboard box. Then take it outside and lightly spray paint the tops and sides of the cap so they are all uniform. I used Colorshot Spraypaint in Lucky Penny, to give them a rusty vibe. Red works great too, depending on the look you are going for. Let them dry completely.

Now that the stickers are cut and the caps are painted, simply place a sticker on the top of each cap.

***Or take your caps a step further and make them party favors!

This cute pin is reminiscent of the "Ellie Badge" from Up! Here's a full post on making these caps into badges in a snap.
Then you can send all the party goers home with a take home favor, to remind them of your favorite video game.

Again, scatter them on the floor and also use some stickers to top new bottles of soda as well. Can you tell how I made my Nuka Girl lunchbox?

**Secret is, it's a Superman lunchbox. I just covered the front and edges with red paper and then stuck my Nuka Girl Magnet, that I made for my hubby for Christmas, on the front. You could make this easily from a small cardboard box too!

I had such a fun time staging this party. Random and chaotic, like it was left there in a hurry, but so cool and put together. This really was one of my favorite parties ever, probably because I had such a fun time playing the game.

Fallout 4 Cram:

Cram is such a fun element of the game. You can just collect it and eat it. Not really a big deal, but it's so iconic of the game.

Finding a scrap pile like this in the game would be awesome! Food, adhesive and new clothes. Oh yeah, when I play the game, I change my clothes a lot...like, just for fun or after it rains. It's the principle of the thing.

I loved getting Zeke's Atom Cats jacket in the game! I wish Zeke could be a companion...

Fallout 4 Nuka Cola:

Serve your party guests the best drink of the game, Nuka Cola...maybe even in all its varieties!

Simply print off these Nuka Cola labels and tape them on, don't forget to add a Nuka Cola Sticker to the top of the bottle caps too!

Hmm, I think that middle one looks more like Nuka Cherry! Make all the variations you want!

For the cake topper, I used my Cricut Machine and yellow cardstock and cut the vault 111 out. This would be a great way to show an age if you are throwing a birthday party!

The cake is layers of chocolate cake with cookies and cookie dough between layers...then covered in frosting and chocolate fudge. It was so yummy!

I used my Cricut Machine to cut out the big hazardous waste logo for my steel drum barrel. I used vinyl and just stuck it right in place. My husband loves it and uses it in the garage for wood scraps.

I also decorated with a pip boy and Atom Cats jacket (both of which were used for my husband's Halloween costume a few years ago).

Fallout themed stickers stuck to twine is what I used for the little side bunting. Plus the Vault Boy magnet on the ammo can. Just little things to tie everything together.

The backdrop I used was old pallet boards that my husband fit together tighter and turned into a background for me. I've used it in lots of pictures and posts on my blog, like this one!

I found one bobby pin and bent it open slightly. As we all know, they are pretty valuable things until you get your lockpick skills up.

I love making layered drip cakes. They aren't that pretty, but they taste good. I'm no food blogger, but I love a great hack.

Here's the trick.

For my Fallout Cake, I wanted it to look like a mountain Vault. Just layers of chocolate cake with cookie layers and cookie dough on top. Then covered with fudge frosting, chocolate chips and cookie dough balls.

Hello - thank you so much for all of these fantastic ideas! My husband is a huge Fallout fan and has played them all - and then replayed them. I always try and do a fun theme for his birthday and this year, he wanted a Fallout birthday. I prefer to do as much DIY as possible so this is all right up my alley! I haven't played it myself but I've been in the room playing on another game while he's played so I'm familiar enough with many of the aspects of it. I'm so excited to do this theme now! Take care!
