Cutting Glass Martinelli Sparkling Cider Bottles!

Cutting Glass Martinelli Sparkling Cider Bottles! Let's chat. Pinterest, I have a huge love/hate relationship with Pinterest. Firstly, it makes it look like things are so easy...they get pinned millions of times and yet, they are not always accurate or even possible the way they state. So, don't believe Pinterest, cutting glass bottles, not a cinch. We tried wrapping twine in lighter fluid and burning it, wetting it for the perfect brake. No.  It did not work. ~ We tried another approach. We started out with 17 Martinelli bottles.  Only 9 turned out. Expect a lot of trial and error.  If you are a drinker or collect a bunch of bottles, that way, you have room for error. Don't try this unless you are ready to break glass. I've heard these circular suction cutting devices may work, but I have not tried them. If you do try them or have, leave me a comment on what you think! ~ We have a wood lathe, so we built a rig to hold the bottle in plac...

Crystal Knob Necklace Holder!

Crystal Knob Necklace Holder! This is a project that helped me with my PHD.    Hahaha, right!? This necklace holder was on my "to-do" list for a year. I even had all the supplies just waiting for like 15 minutes to do it! I used a strip of pine board about 4 inches wide and 2 feet long. I used Plaid Home Decor Chalk paint , which I love! I am fortunate enough to be an Ambassador for Plaid, which means they send me  products to use on a regular basis.  No other compensation, but I love trying all these fun new supplies! I also had a bunch of different knobs and several sparkly crystal knobs!  I did a quick paint job on the wood. And chalk paint is a dream because it dries so fast!  I spaced out the knobs and then marked them with a pencil.  Then used a drill and bit slightly larger than the machine screw that comes with the knobs.  Then I twisted all the knobs on, exactly where I wanted them! I drilled 2 other ho...

Log Slice Pencil Holder!

Log Slice Pencil Holder! Add a rustic and natural touch to your desktop with this log pencil holder!  You will need: A log slice (about 4 inches tall and 4 inches wide) Drill and 1/2 inch spade bit Possibly a pencil.  I found this log at a campsite.  It was just too adorable to burn. You could use any size log and make any amount of holes you want. Imagine a 24 piece set of colored pencils all arranged in a log slice...aw, heaven. I pretreated the log by baking it in the oven at 275* for about 30 minutes, then turning it over for another 30 minutes. It needs to dry or it can crack as it dries out over time.  I lightly sanded the top of the log. Get your 1/2 inch bit locked and loaded.  Drill the first hole directly in the center...then space the other holes at least 1/4" away. Don't drill all the way through the log.  Just down about 2-3 inches. The point of the bit is the center of the circle.  7 holes fits great in a...
