 Steampunk Gun Makeover! We turned a cheap plastic pistol into a prop worthy of cosplay! My son had a great idea to make his dad a fun tricked out gun for Christmas.  It was a dollar store type gun. Light weight and really dinky. Dan used Rub 'n Buff and coated it silver and gold.  We used old watch parts and we busted apart an old hard drive too and used  E6000 to glue them all over the gun.  I let the 12 year old do all the design work. These parts still spin too!  We used the telescope and looked at the cogs and parts up close...so cool! They look like big sharp table saw blades!  We had to prop up the gun while parts dried...  It took a few days worth of drying. One side at a time...  Love his tiny little fingers! Steampunk Dart Gun with Rub 'n Buff!

 Another awesome Gun! This is my favorite toy dart gun!  It's even cooler now that it's all metallic!  Here's the gun to begin with. Red, blue, orange and green plastic.  I started with Ebony and coated the entire thing.  Then added on Grecian gold.  Added on some Silver Leaf  Tip and all!  Looks awesome!  The Ebony I started with shows in the cracks and crevices  and looks antique and awesome! Steampunk your Guns with Rub 'n Buff!

  This is amazing! Welcome to Rub 'n Buff week!  I just discovered Rub 'n Buff Metallic Finishes. It's like a metallic wax paint. It rubs on and buffs to a shine. Great on loads of surfaces!  Plastic, wood, metal, vinyl, foam! This takes Halloween costumes to a WHOLE new level!  I was sent 5 shades of Rub 'n Buff from AMACO I loved it so much, I went and bought 3 more tubes of it at Hobby Lobby. My husband and kids want to try it on everything!  This handgun was the first project we tried. Here's the Before:  And the after!  I used a pea sized amount of the Spanish Copper for the top half of the gun. I ended up using about double the amount pictured below.  This first job I did with my bare fingers...next time I wore latex gloves. Use in a well ventilated area, it's got a strong scent. Just rub it all around. I used a stiff disposable paint brush to get into all the grooves.  Let the wax dry about 10 minu...

Duct Tape Gun Holsters to the Rescue!

 My 5 year old son is such a man. He only wants to be a part of things that are manly and tough... and has a hard time joking around. Don't get me wrong...he's super adorable and loves his mommy... and can get into an uber silly mood. But generally he is very stoic...serious...and all boy. In the past we've made him jet packs , bandolier bullet vests , tool belts , Bounty Hunter jet packs , and utility belts ... this time...he needed gun holsters. He found these 2 wooden guns that my hubby made years ago for a costume party... and wanted them to be his Jango Fett guns.  I love to see his little mind thinking of solutions to his problems. He was wearing his reflective running belt and tucking the guns in them... but if he leaned over the guns would come out. He approached me with his problem and asked if I had any ideas. My first thought was that I could sew something... or dad could make some holsters out of leather... Then like lightning hitting m...
