Scrappy Owls Scripture Reminder!

Scrappy Owls Scripture Reminder! My friend and I made some darling little owls to serve as reminders to read scriptures every day. They turned out so cute! I cut down a 2 by 4 into 5 inch pieces. Traced a curved line on the top edge... And used a bandsaw to cut that edge. Then we sanded the rough edges. Pretty cute already! After sanding and wiping off the dust, we painted! Some aqua, blue and some pink! Let them dry completely. Then we cut scrapbook paper about 1/4" smaller than  the face of the board and glued it on. Cuter!  Then we cut a different scrapbook paper belly for the owl... no pictures...refer down to the next one. Next the eyes. I used 1 1/8" in white, 3/4" in blue and 1/2" circles in black. Just used a glue stick to layer them together... with a little yellow diamond shaped beak. (see the striped belly?) Then we went over everything with modpodge. And stuck a little poem about scripture reading on...

The Snuggly Duckling!

We love Tangled!  We love Rapunzel! Check out these hair clips we made! And yes, the Snuggly Duckling sign! Someday I will make a full sized carved sign for the yard...but until then! We did 2 and gave one as a gift... My 8 year old daughter and I... curly wood boards... cut with the silhouette on contact paper  barely visible...  Painted the words first...  Then the duck yellow...  Then filled in background and free handed the cattails... yes, my 8 year old daughter did one herself too!  Let them dry...  One departed just like that... for the keeper (my daughters) we added 2 screw eyes and some brown ribbon to hang it! Turkey Lollipops!

Turkey Lollipop Display! This is a perfect way to display lollipops, suckers or even cake pops! Great Thanksgiving decor and fun gift to give to friends! I don't have any step by step photos...but it is fairly basic. I used 3/4" pine scraps and a bandsaw. Once I cut the 3 wood pieces, I mod podged scrapbook paper onto them. Then hot glued them together...drilled some sucker stick holes and ta da! A fun holiday touch! It looks amazing with homemade lollipops too!  :) Linking up to THESE parties this week!

Summertime daily Job/Chore Charts!

I had to keep my kids on track, and frankly my memory is a disaster these days... so we made magnetic job charts!  Pink for my girl, blue for my boy...  I printed out their jobs--and basically their school.   Some are easy like "hug and kiss mom"... Some are more time consuming. I punched them out with a circle punch...glued them  to a larger circle of kraft paper...then adhered a  cheapo piece of magnet strip.  We just used painters tape to split the magnet board in half. (I'll change it up to some cute washi tape one of these days!) When they are done with the chore, they move it over... It's good for me to have a visual... Somedays are lazy and I tell them to just do 10 of them! Hopefully we will stay disciplined all summer long!  ;)
