Steampunk Teen Mermaid Costume!

Steampunk Teen Mermaid Costume! When it comes to Halloween costumes, I like them modest. Apart from having high moral standards, and that it's cold out on Halloween... it's also a holiday where the CRAZIES come out! We take dressing up very seriously at our house! We source ideas and pieces year round and get a game plan in August! There are usually several events that require dressing up  and it is fun to mix it up for each of them! Super simple Mermaid inspired costume with a touch of steampunk! This costume is great for a church party. Key points: no mask (lots of churches have a no mask policy) comfort and ease of movement. Ariel Princess Inspired Hairbow!

Ariel Princess Inspired Hairbow! The Little Mermaid...possibly one of the first movies I actually remember seeing at the movie theater!  1989, so I was nearly 9. I like the subtle approach to a princessy Ariel...rather than the whole shell bikini thing. So here's a good inspiration picture. I used teal, aqua, purple. I use satin ribbon from Papermart ...it's a great quality and price point.  They don't compensate me, I just want to make sure you are getting the best price. I used 36 inches of 1.5 inch teal, 1 inch aqua and 7/8 inch purple. I planned on using a shabby aqua flower but ended up not using it. I used a shabby purple flower and rhinestone button. Gather the center of the ribbon and wrap in thread. Full tutorial for gathering ribbon here Stack and hot glue together. Wrap with thick thread. Hot glue the flower center to the middle! Now finish off the back. You can hot glue a clip onto it, or a headband... Or finish it off this way...
