Supplies Needed for Wood Slice Lettering Sign:

Make a quick 5 minute craft with a wood slice, tombow dual brush pens, spray bottle and blending palette.

Step 1: Watercolor Background

Begin by scribble coloring on the Blending Palette.

Then spray the blending palette with some water.

Next, turn over the blending palette and quickly press it on the wood slice.

Then remove the blending palette and let the wood slice dry. This isn't part of the 5 minutes, but it doesn't take too long. You can use a blow dryer to speed up the drying time.

Step 2: Adding the Mantra Lettering

Now, hopefully you've thought of the perfect quote or mantra for the wood slice. Then very lightly pencil the text on in big loopy, bouncy cursive lettering.

I am not a perfectionist...so this is not an issue for me, but don't over think the letters. Move quickly and they will look more natural. Just give it a try.

Now trace the lettering with the MONOTWIN Permanent Marker. Add tiny curls to the ends of words and little flourishes.

Then add an extra thick part to every downstroke of each letter. This will give it the customary calligraphy feel, although calligraphy is done in one stroke. This is faux calligraphy and is just as beautiful.
