This is a monstera deliciosa that I got from Verdant Lyfe. Get 10% off with code: DOODLECRAFT

It just got its first split leaf and transplanted to a bigger pot--it's doing so well!

They ship from Florida. My plants arrived in beautiful condition and were really pretty. I was worried they would be picked over or have obvious flaws...but they didn't.

Every plant I got from Verdant Lyfe looks amazing.

When I was little we had a giant monstera plant...for some reason I think it was my dads.

I saw the split leaves and was just sure my mom cut them herself, because she was a crafter! πŸ€£ 🀣 🀣

I am super new to houseplants. I decided now that my baby is 14 and does not need me interfering in his life all the time, I needed to start a new hobby, or ten.

In the last few months I've started several new things.

  • Plant motherhood
  • Feeding stray cats, mostly a little kitten that found his way here in a thunderstorm and hasn't left since.
  • Stained Glass Sun Catchers
  • Miniatures
  • Polymer Clay

These plants really bring an element of life into my home though. I love them!

I feel happier just seeing them.

If you are in need of a new hobby, that brings joy, maybe a plant is right for you!?

Supplies Needed for I will Survive Disco Ball Plant Stake:

Supplies Needed for I will Survive Disco Ball Plant Stake: xTool M1 Laser Cutting Machine 3mm Basswood xTool Creative Space Plant Disco Ball Free Files (at the end of this post)

Step 1: xTool Creative Space

I don't do a lot of designing in the xTool creative space.

I design everything in photoshop and import it in.

Let me walk you through the process so you can do the same thing with the 2 files at the end of the post.

Download the 2 png files.

Upload them into XCS.

Line them up so that they overlap perfectly, with the word/designed file over the top of the silhouette.

Then select one of the images.

Click the "outline" button and change the offset distance to 0.

Then select the "cut" option for the solid silhouette design.

Select the "engrave" option for the disco ball/text design.

Then make sure the 2 files are lined up perfectly on each other and then print!

The xTool M1 Laser Cutting Machine is awesome and does all the engraving before cutting, so it works flawlessly.

Step 2: Laser Cutting

Let the xTool M1 Laser Cutting Machine do what it is best at...laser cutting.

It takes a few minutes to get all the way through the print, but you should stay near by just in case.

Check the print periodically to make sure it's venting and not starting on fire. (standard safety for all laser cutters)

Step 3: Plant!

This beautiful disco ball plant stake can be painted (don't paint the stick or it might seep in the soil...idk) or placed in the planter as is.

I love the smell of lasered wood and the slightly burned edges, so I usually do natural.

Also, this is an easy way to make a custom cake topper too!

Just stick the stake right into the rich brown soil of your well cared for plant and ta-da!

It's just so absolutely adorably cute!

I hear the song play in my head whenever I look at it.

I've been tempted to paint the disco ball silver, but I really like it natural, so it stays.

There are 2 files that need to be loaded into xTool Creative Design Space.

Layer them so they fit together perfectly.

Then select the outline distance of both images and set to 0.

The silhouette shape needs to be a cut outline.

The disco ball design needs to be an engrave.

Then delete the original uploaded images and layer the outlines perfectly before printing.

I need to make more plant adornments for all my other plants now too!

Do you have plants?

This is the first time I've tried houseplants.

I've had bamboo and succulents, which I manage to kill somehow or another.
But to actually have a plant feels a little like having a toddler...I check on it all the time, move it around the house and pray for it.

Please let me know all your best houseplant tips!
