Supplies Needed for Folded Butterfly Bookmark: Sheet of paper (32 lb) Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils MONO Graph Pencil Ruler Scissors Tombow VIP Club Box

Step 1: Straight Lines

Use the ruler to draw 2 straight lines about 6 inches long on your smooth paper.

I like using a (32) heavy pound of paper, but not quite cardstock, it's sturdy but still easy to fold.

Step 1: Straight Lines

Step 2: Half Shapes

Now use the pencil to draw half the shape on each end of the straight lines, once satisfied with the shape, outline them with the MONO Drawing Pen.

This part probably could be done MUCH more precise than me just "eyeballing" it.

Draw the shape so the center of the shape connects to the lines.

If you draw out the perfect flower, butterfly or heart on a separate paper and then use it as a pattern, that would help it line up better when you are done coloring.

Step 2: Half Shapes

Step 3: Coloring

Next use one of the many erasers in the Eraser Variety Pack from the Tombow VIP Club Box and erase the penciled in shape.

Then use Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils to color the shapes.

The way the colored pencils blend and mix is so smooth and beautiful!

These colored pencils are amazing.

Step 3: Coloring Next use one of the many erasers in the Eraser Variety Pack from the Tombow VIP Club Box and erase the penciled in shape. Then use Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils to color the shapes.

Step 4: MONO Drawing Pen Details

After coloring, especially the butterfly, add details in black with the MONO Drawing Pen.

All the fine details are so easy to pen in with the 005 tip.

Step 4: MONO Drawing Pen Details

Step 5: Eraser Time!

Now that the images are brightly colored and detailed, it's time to gently erase the guide lines.

Leave enough of the line showing, so you can still cut a straight line with the scissors though.

Step 5: Eraser Time!

Step 6: Cut Out

Now cut out the butterfly wings and other shapes and leave them connected to the long strip of paper in the center of each side.

Step 6: Cut Out

Step 7: Fold Over and Enjoy

Finally, fold the bookmark in half so the colored sides of the images touch each other.

Then fold the butterfly wings down for the perfect fluttering butterfly!

The flower and heart are a little wonky, but still fun and could look fabulous with a little reworking!

If you make one of these bookmarks, share it on social media and tag me @doodlecraft so I can cheer you on!

Step 7: Fold Over and Enjoy

Slip the folded bookmark in your desired book and see the beautiful butterfly fluttering over the top!

It's a bookmark and a piece of art!

These would make a special gift for a book lover friend!
