Supplies Needed for Etched Baking Dishes:

Supplies Needed for Etched Baking Dishes: Pyrex (or similar dishes, very old pyrex dishes will NOT etch) Etching Cream Paintbrush Vinyl (to use as stencil) Transfer Tape Cricut Machine

Step 1 for Etched Baking Dish: Cut Vinyl

Begin by designing your phrase, design or graphic in Cricut Design Space.

Then cut it out of vinyl.

If you are placing the vinyl on the underside of the baking dish, cut the image in reverse so it will be viewed the correct direction looking through the glass.

If etching on the inside of the dish, cut it out regular order.

Weed the vinyl so it becomes a stencil. Remove the positive space...or the places you want the baking dish to be etched.

Step 2: Transfer Vinyl

After removing the vinyl from the places you want the etched finish, use the transfer tape to place the vinyl on the baking dish.

Cleaning the baking dish off with rubbing alcohol can help to make sure there is no debris, but not necessary.

The vinyl does not need to be smooth everywhere, just the edges where the letters meet the glass need to be.

Step 3: Etching Glass

Next paint a thick layer of etching cream on the glass where the letters are open.

Careful not to get etching cream off the edge of the vinyl--or it will etch.

Wear protective gear, work in a ventilated area.

Let the etching cream sit on the glass for 15 minutes.

Then scrape the excess cream off the vinyl and you can put it right back inside the bottle for future use.

Then wash the dish off in the sink with warm water and soap.

Remove the vinyl and wash the dish again.

You've just been poisoned and Eat Up are funny baking dishes I made for a wedding gift.

It's a great alternative to a "last name" dish, especially if you don't know who's last name they are sticking with.
