Don't Worry Be Happy: Hand Lettered Mantra Home Decor!
Don’t worry, be happy! A great mantra to have on your desk as a reminder to be happy through the ups and downs of life.
I remember the “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” song by Bobby McFerrin came out when I was in first grade. All the kids in school were singing it non stop! It makes a great mantra, but pick something you love for this tutorial. Make sure it’s about 3-5 words.

Supplies Needed:
Tombow Dual Brush Pens (in any color combo)
Watercolor paper (cut to the size of your picture frame)
Picture Frame
Painter’s Tape
Step 1: Watercolor Background
Begin by taping the watercolor paper down to a waterproof work surface or an easy to clean table.
Then, color with the Tombow Dual Brush Pens onto the Blending Palette. Color stripes in any order or color configuration you like.
Then, spritz the Blending Palette with the Spray Mister (spritz the paper a little bit too). I always do two runs, so I can pick the one I like the best…or in case there is a mess up!
Then, quickly turn over the Blending Palette and press it on the damp watercolor paper.
Lift off and let the paper dry completely. Clean off your Blending Palette. I used a baby wipe.
Step 2: Hand Lettering
Now is the time to letter on the perfect mantra, statement, family motto or lyrics you love. New to hand lettering? Check out this post to get started with bounce lettering!
Begin by using the pencil to lightly write it out. This is a great way to make sure the spacing is correct and the balance of words and letter shapes works together.
Then, use the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen to letter. You can see that the lettering isn’t perfect because of the texture of the watercolor paper. Just go back in and smooth out lines if desired.
After writing it out your words, let it sit for about five minutes to prevent any possible smudging during erasing.
Then, use the Tombow MONO Eraser to remove all the pencil lines effortlessly.
Finally, insert the hand lettered piece into the picture frame and display proudly! Update the frame as often as you’d like. You can add seasonal art or monthly quotes to memorize. There are so many awesome options with your custom home decor lettering!
