Rae Dunn Inspired Christmas Tree Ornaments with Vinyl!

This is the perfect Christmas craft!  Guys, these are cheap, plastic ornaments from the dollar store!

Can you believe that they look so gorgeous and high end with just a little bit of black vinyl!?

The best part is that this project takes just 15 minutes or less!

These Rae Dunn inspired ornaments make great holiday gifts or add the perfect touch to a fabulous Christmas tree...or even in a cute egg tray on the counter, like mine!
This post is part of a Cricut Holiday Event--loads of fun ideas, all using a Cricut machine!
For the perfect Rae Dunn knock-offs, use the font: The Skinny, totally free.  I wrote out these 3 words and saved it as a png.  Right click to save off an upload them directly into your cutting software.  I used Cricut Design Space.  Scale the size of the letters to the size of your ornaments.  Mine are 3/4" tall...super skinny, delicate letters!

Plus you will need:

Plastic ornaments (in a 12 pack at Dollar Tree)
Black adhesive vinyl
Cutting Machine (I am using my Cricut Maker)
Transfer Tape
These plastic ornaments can look really tacky, but by adhering the vinyl to the dead center between the seamed lines, the ornament hangs beautifully and disguises the cheapness.  Genius!
Just load your regular vinyl and have your machine cut out the image.
I did the reverse weeding trick.  Just set the transfer tape right on the top of the entire vinyl just cut.  Then peel back the transfer tape slowly, taking just the skinny letters with it.  Weed out the insides of the loopy letters.  So easy, just takes a minute!
Cut the words apart and clean the ornaments off with some rubbing alcohol.  Then place the vinyl dead-center on the front of the ornament.  Just "eyeball" it, but make sure the words aren't running into the ornament seam.
Press down firmly with fingers or scraper.  Then slowly and gently peel the transfer tape back over itself making sure each letter stays adhered to the ornament.  Then press the letters down firmly with thumb.
That's it!  It's super fast and turns a cheap ornament into a high end piece of work!
Do you have a Cricut machine?  I love mine.  Funny story, I work with Cricut, and they sent me a Cricut Explore Air 2 (which I loved) about 1.5 years ago.  Then last April, I won a Maker at a sewing event!  I love the Maker.  If you are looking into a machine, that's the one I would save for.
