Star Wars Han Solo and Princess Leia love!

Happy 12th Anniversary to me and my hubby! In honor of our special day...   Is there anything more geeky and romantic? I think not.  I used my silhouette to cut out contact  shelf lining paper...it's cheap, but so hard to see! But it's so cheap!  I buy this at the dollar store. My silhouette settings are: Blade set to 5, cut depth on the software set to 1. Cut speed at 3...better to go slow. Carefully applied to wood with transfer  tape for the perfect stencil! I did dry/bare wood and black paint...    and I wasn't too thrilled about the major bleeding problem...     So I used the contact paper to recover Han and Leia...  and then painted all the rest of the wood white! Much better, crisper lines!  The perfect silhouettes! Then I re-did the captions in contact paper  and painted those on... In a true Star Wars Geek Love fashion...  And since I know YOU...

Diablo 3 Birthday Party for my 10 year old!

We celebrated video game style for my 10 year old! We love the new Diablo 3 that came out last month, so we had a Diablo themed birthday party! It's a pretty narrow market in the DIY world... If you are unfamiliar with diablo 3...this may bore you... but we had loads of fun, the food was good and we were ultra creative! Here's a screenshot from Whimsyshire... a magical land in the game...where unicorns, teddy bears and flowers attack you-- hilarious, if you ask me! We had hanging Whimsyshire clouds all over the room! Something about them just makes me happy! Birthday Boy! Whimsyshire unicorns...beware, they are deadly! Health and mana potions, cupcakes--rootbeer flavor! Simple Banner cut from the silhouette... We basically just had a simple dinner...just our family... but lots of choices, only a bit of each...so I used our smallest dishes. And did my best to make it look fun! We named everything fun game-related names! ArchAngel cupcakes! Tyreal, Leah, Deckard Cain... ...
