Are you a Five Nights at Freddy's fan?

My kids played through the games a few years ago and it's always been a great first horror game for them.

I'm not a fan of jump scares, or being scared in general, so you won't find me playing this game!

I grew up in the 80's-90's.

I was quite familiar with Showbiz Pizza, where a kid can be a kid!

I remember going to Showbiz for a couple friends birthday parties and then one time for my birthday...I think I was 8.

I remember being very apprehensive of the animatronics...I mean, there's something so unnatural about them. (I'm looking at you Chuck E. Cheese!)

This makes them the perfect subject matter for a horror game and movie.

Set up like a couple of the party rooms from FNAF, this DIY party was easy to throw together with very little cost.

I splurged on this fabulous cake for a couple reasons.

  1. I wanted cake.
  2. I didn't want to make cake.

I have the greatest cake baking friend, check her out: @somethingspecial_custom.cakes

I asked her to make me a chocolate cake with raspberry filling with chocolate buttercream frosting and red drip...it's perfection!

Step 1: Cake Topper

I didn't have any black and white checked paper, so I made some!

It was a little tedious, cutting and taping, but fun--and free because I already had white and black paper!

Then I accordion folded the paper to make a fan for the cake topper backdrop.

Hot glued to 2 bamboo skewers.

Stick the accordion fan cake topper in the cake first.

Then place the skewers for the bunting twine in the cake so they hang just right.

I used the spring trap arm (included in the Freddy Fazbear toy) in the side of the cake.

Then add Freddy Fazbear himself to the top of the cake.

His arms fall off really easy ðŸ™„ so that's fun.

But he's balanced pretty well, so he stands on his own two feet pretty well.

If you don't want to invest in the toy, just use a printer and some paper and make a little printed cut out to stick in the top of the cake.

Easy and inexpensive!

The cake is the centerpiece of the party.

It's just so fun.

The rest of the party is a mash-up of "party rooms" from the video game series.

I love the look of the party rooms, because they look like the birthday parties from my childhood.

You know, balloons, a poster, party hats, cut outs on the wall.

Super simple.

Hot glue the party hat together down the edge, overlapping the paper slightly, so it has a nice point at the top.

I find it's easier if done in 2 steps.

First, hot glue the point of the hat.

The balloon stands are so familiar of the 80's for birthday parties!

I remember as a child, we NEVER got helium balloons...but my mom had these balloon holders and sticks.

It gives the illusion of big balloon bouquets...perfect for a FNAF party!

Don't forget to serve mediocre pizza and fizzy drinks!

If there was a bunch of gold-ish tokens for arcade games, that would be the best birthday party ever in my 6 year old eyes.
