Last year for Christmas, I was planning on giving my son a completed blanket. I was so busy with everything that the holiday entails, so I didn't have time to tie up this blanket.

Instead, I wrapped up 2 yards of cute doggy fleece and gifted it as a "Date with Mom" present. He was thrilled and it worked out much better too! Instead of just giving him something we worked on it together. He put so much love and effort into it, it's his favorite blankie.

I love gifting time with my kids, especially as they get older. I love spending quality time with each of my kids, so a simple craft like this is perfect.

A great throw blanket is 2 yards long and 60 inches wide. The craft store sells so many fun patterns of fleece, it's easy to make one for everyone you know!

Step 1 for Tied Fleece Blanket: Selvage Edge

Begin by cutting off the selvage edge, typically has text. Just cut it straight down the edge with some scissors.

Step 3 for Tied Fleece Blanket: Tie Knots

Now simply tie each fleece fringe into an overhand knot. This repetition is great for little hands to learn how to tie and to see improvement along the way.

It's a great time to sit together and talk about life. I love crafting with my kids, it helps me to really get to know them...with no screen time!

Once both sides are tied off, it's done! There is no need to fringe the top and bottom, but you can do it if you desire to. This fun blanket has become a favorite snuggle blanket for us.

That's it!

Your tied fleece blanket is finished! These are great blankets to make for a service project.

When my daughter was young, she was selected as one of the Little Miss Farmington girls for the year. They got together for a fun service project with the older girls in the pageant. They each brought a few yards of fleece and made tied fleece blankets together. It was a fun night with treats and games.

The best part of this service is that it is a craft that so many ages can do together. The tying isn't too hard, so the youngest girls can do it. The older ladies just got their blankets made faster.

In the end they donated hundreds of blankets to the local hospital. This is a great craft to consider for a service project if you are looking for one. Have you made a tied fleece blanket before?
