Acrylic Ornament #1: Hand Lettering with Marker and Paint

Begin by peeling off the protective layers on the front and back of the acrylic blank.

Then brush a little paint, very sparingly on the backside of the ornament. Leave it really brushy and don't cover the entire blank. Then let the paint dry completely.

Next, turn the acrylic blank over and use a permanent marker to add a last name, funny phrase, monogram or other hand lettering to the ornament.

Finally, add some ribbon to tie it on the Christmas tree. These custom ornaments are great gifts for neighbors or family...especially highlighting 2020 as such a wonderfully unusual year.

Then use the Cricut cutting machine to cut the vinyl. I picked the word Merry! The diameter of the blank is just under 2 inches, so the vinyl needs to be small--but pick a big word so it's less delicate weeding. Then weed the excess vinyl.

Acrylic Ornament #3: Engraving with Cricut Maker

Last ornament is my newest favorite obsession. Check out these acrylic keychains I made last week. Begin by removing the covering off the top of the acrylic blank.

Design the image in Cricut Design Space. Select the "engrave" option. I find it works best to pick a "draw" image and a "writing" font.

Then remove the tape and see how cool the engraving is! I love how this turned out. It's subtle and classy. Add some paint to the backside like the first ornament if you want it to pop!

Then tie it off with a ribbon and hang on the Christmas tree! Perfect ornaments for the perfect holiday crafting DIY!

I love the engraved one first, then vinyl, then paint. I will probably not paint this.
