Hosting a Halloween or Autumn Harvest event?

These cute goodie bags are easy to make and fill with little treats for party favors.

The stencil is a 2 part stencil; first pumpkin, then stem, and it makes each pumpkin perfect every time.

The stencil is made from a dollar store chopping mat and cut on the Cricut, making the options endless for creating your own reusable stencils!

Supplies Needed for Stencil Pumpkin Treat Bags:

How to Make Stencils with Dollar Tree Cutting Boards! Make the perfect paint stencils using cutting boards from Dollar Tree. I love making my own reusable stencils, but stencil material can get pricy--Dollar Tree crafts are the BEST! I love finding things at the dollar store that I can use for something entirely different than its intended purpose.

Step 1: Cut the Stencil

Begin by placing one chopping mat from the dollar store on the cricut mat.

Then insert the deep point blade in the Cricut Maker (or Explore Air machine)--see the angle of the deep point blade is a little bit sharper than the fine point blade.

This makes cutting through the chopping mats easy!

Pick a design in Cricut Design Space that will work well for a stencil.

I used this pumpkin and slid the stem over so I could use it separately from the pumpkin.

Don't remove the Cricut mat after the first cutting.

It will need to do at least 3 passes.

Just click the "go" button again and let it cut the image again.

After the second pass, press go again.

Then check it with the Cricut hook tool and see if the chopping mat pieces are completely cut.

After removing the Cricut mat, remove the chopping mat from the cutting mat.

Sometimes there are little pieces that don't quite get cut apart completely, just use a hobby knife and go over the same line that the Cricut did.

My stencil just had a tiny piece still connected and it was super easy to just cut it out.

Step 2: Paint the Stencil

Now get the kraft bags, stencil, paints, palette and stencil brush ready for painting!

Place the stencil over the kraft bag.

Then dab the stencil brush straight into the orange acrylic craft paint and dab it on the palette a few times, so it's not overloaded with paint.

Then paint the stencil with up and down dabs on the bag.

Don't rub, push or pull the paint with the brush, or that will shove paint under the stencil.

After the pumpkins are dry, line up the stem on the stencil over the painted pumpkin on the bag and paint it brown.

Repeat the stem stenciling for all the pumpkins!

Then let the stencil painted kraft bags dry completely!

These are the cutest bags to hand out to trick-or-treaters (if you are that extra), or goodie bags for neighbors, friends or students. Great for a church function handout and more!

I love kraft bags and this fun stencil technique can be used for any occasion, theme or holiday!
