Charms in Spoon Resin Necklace DIY
Necklaces are such a fun finishing touch to any outfit.  This necklace is a showstopper!  People love to see suspends belief!  Kids always ask how all the charms are staying in that spoon of water.  It's such a fun conversation piece.  They are simple to make and fun to fill with trinkets, charms and little pieces of fun.  What will you put in yours?

Seashells and seastars are a fun idea...create a little beach scene!

Supplies needed:
Old spoons
Buttons, charms, trinkets, beads and fillers
Jewelry Resin

Chain, findings, clasps
Disposable work surface, gloves
E6000 glue
I had my teenage son run out to the garage and cut the spoons to shape.  He used a torch and burned the neck until it was red.
Then used his blacksmith tools to cut the handle off...
Then another quick heat up in the torch...
And then curled while hot into a loop and cooled completely.
They are looped and ready to make.
If you don't have a blacksmithing teenager, using a torch and pliers and a hammer should achieve about the same result.
Begin by gathering all your little charms and pieces.  Have your E6000 glue ready to go.
Then glue the desired pieces into the spoon.
Add layers and varieties of colors.
Prop the spoons up on mixing sticks to keep them level for the resin.
Mix one part of resin and one part of hardener into a little mixing cup and stir for 2 minutes, according to the package directions.  I mixed 6 drams of resin for the 3 spoons.
Then pour some resin right in the spoon.
Pour until nearly all the trinkets are coated and the spoon suspends belief by barely holding all the liquid and charms.  Then let them dry and cure overnight.
Next day, add chains or velvet ribbon to complete the necklaces.
They are so much fun and create quite the conversations!  The resin is clear and liquid looking and is such a fun reality check.
Add fun vintage pieces or treasures from the sea side...make a fun steampunk look or just a spoonful of sugar!  What will you fill your spoons with?
