Gifts of the Magi: Gold Frankincense and Myrrh Wise Men Props
These props are perfect for a nativity play or for teaching children about the Christmas story.
They are perfect for a table centerpiece or decoration too!
Gold: Gold represents value.  It is a gift suitable for a king.
Frankincense: It is a gift for a priest.  It was used in the temple worship and sacrifices as a sweet perfume.
Myrrh: It is the gift for one who is to die; myrrh was used to embalm the bodies of the dead.

The gold is of course, not real gold.  But the Frankincense and Myrrh are real and aromatic.
It is resin, the frankincense is white and myrrh is amber.

I used a small wooden treasure box and stained it dark brown.
Then added some black velvet on the inside.
I filled the inside with about 5 cotton balls unrolled.
Then carefully hot glued the velvet inside the box.
So it could still open and close easily, but make it look pretty.
I used bright shiny gold spray paint and jagged rocks and sprayed them gold.
I had a small bottle with a cork and cut a little hole out the center and glued a crystal bead right in the top.
I used painters tape to keep it in place while curing.
I used some gold ink and calligraphy to write the names on parchment.
Then tied on strings and pinned inside the box.
