  Harry Potter Week--Hogwarts House Patches!
I got this embroidery machine about a year and a half ago.
I love it!
You sandwich your fabric...canvas, twill or my favorite, felt,
and tear away stabilizer into the frame...then program the patch and it will stitch away!
Getting software to interface with your computer is expensive, but totally worth it!
I imported a picture of the Hogwarts house crests and had it embroider them.
Each new color of thread needs to be manually changed, but it is so simple.
There's even a needle threader on the machine, so no hard work there!
 ~
Then I use fray check all around the edge of the embroidered patch,
let it dry and then cut it out!
 They are fun!
Not as high quality as store bought variety, but still perfect for
Harry Potter costumes or party favors!
Embroidery right onto felt is great too!
No fraying fabric--means no fray check needed!
Here's some big patches I did on felt.
They look AMAZING!
If you are outlining the patch in black, use a black backing!
It makes it much more crisp...if you are outlining in white, go with white backing!
We had a Harry Potter Halloween Party back in October and I wanted to
sort all the guests into houses with a sorting hat.
A giant house patch for each person (about 30) was too much work for me!
So...
I did mini house logo's for each house!
Then I put them in the sorting hat and everyone picked a patch...perfect
way to sort into houses without a lot of quizzes and personality matching!
Plus, everyone went home with a mini patch!
Booyah!  Great party favor!
Do you have an embroidery machine?
Would you ever consider it?
What would you make with it?
