How to Make Wedding Flower Bouquet Basket (Easy DIY)
Learn how to make a wedding flower bouquet using a filled floral basket.
Flower baskets are the newest trend in wedding flowers, and they are a simple DIY craft that will save you money on pricy flower arrangement bouquets, floral display decor, and corsages.
Make your special occasion beautiful with flower baskets for all the bridesmaids and the flower girl.
Let's get started!
You can make these beautiful baskets with fresh flowers from wholesale flower markets, the local grocery store, Costco or Trader Joe flowers...or you can buy silk flowers from Dollar Tree or a craft store.
Bridesmaid basket bouquets are a fun and unique addition to your wedding party for all your best friends.
They are a great way to keep hands free...plus they could even slip their phone right in the wicker basket to keep it out of sight on that special day, but close for quick candid pictures and videos.

FLOWERS FOR BRIDESMAIDS:
Instead of all the bridesmaids carrying a bouquet or wearing a wrist corsage, holding baskets of flowers is the best way to navigate bouquets for weddings now, they are easy to set down during the wedding ceremony too--without crushing flowers.
Get a bunch of the perfect size baskets (thrifted or purchased new) and make these DIY bouquets for a unique and beautiful wedding accessory with the theme of your wedding in mind.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR WEDDING FLOWER BOUQUETS:
STEP 1: PAINT THE BASKET
Begin by painting the basket white with chalk paint...I'm going with white paint, but you can paint them to match the wedding day colors.
Chalk paint is the best, no sanding or prep needed, just dip in the paintbrush and paint it on the basket.
Do a coat of paint and let it dry, if you want more coverage, do another coat of paint.
I like the dark wood showing in the crevices, I'm more of a rustic girl than a glam girl.
Paint a second coat of paint, if desired, and let it dry.
What do you think, do you like the rustic look?
Once you are done painting, you'll need to plug in the hot glue gun and get the styrofoam discs ready.
STEP 2: GLUE IN FOAM
Use the hot glue gun to glue in the styrofoam discs to the base of the basket.
If you are using fresh flowers, there are styrofoam blocks that you can pour water into to keep the flowers hydrated...but I'd do that right before the wedding event.
STEP 3: FLOWER ARRANGING
Now use the wire cutters to clip the flowers into individual blooms, make the wires as long as possible until you know for sure how tall you want the flowers poking out of the basket.
Then begin sticking the flowers into the styrofoam, spacing the flowers apart so they cover the whole inside of the basket.
It took 4 dollar store bunches of flowers for this one basket, filled to the brim with flowers.
I thrifted the basket for three dollars, so this beautiful bouquet is about $7.
I think it would be cute for each bridesmaid to have a different type of basket thrifted or found at a flea market!
Fill in any remaining gaps in the basket with flowers, leaves/ferns and fillers or baby's breath.
The next steps just involve adding a Butterfly pick to the basket, if desired.
I think that the little butterfly is such a cute addition--it's one of my favorite things about this basket!
Now this beautiful basket is ready for its debut down the aisle!
It's so pretty and unique, plus it makes fabulous home decor when the wedding is over.
You can have a bundle of flowers ready to toss (if you like the idea of a bouquet toss) and keep the baskets of flowers around for perfect photographs and a whimsical style.
That's it!
It's easy to DIY the perfect Wedding bouquet basket with a thrifted basket, some paint and lots of silk or fresh flowers.
These beautiful baskets are much easier to carry around than a big bouquet of flowers and work great for the Bride, bridesmaids and the flower girl.
If you are DIY'ing a wedding, don't forget to save off this idea!
