Roadside Rescue Aqua Chair Update!

Roadside Rescue Chair!   This chair was gorgeous and on the side of the road.  Free. Free is my favorite price. It means that regardless of how pretty the wood is, I can do whatever I want with it because I saved it from the landfill.  Okay, it was pretty. The wood would have been a major sanding, staining and refinishing project... that I just frankly did not want to put the time into. Which is probably why it ended up on the side of the road. So I painted it. Exotic Sea from Valspar. It painted up nicely and hasn't chipped off yet...so here's hoping.  I love it! I wish I had a gorgeous front porch to put this on...  Until the next move, it's in my craft room. This post published on Doodlecraft first

Yellow and White Chevron Chair!

One of my favorite things in the world is finding  furniture on the side of the road. Free. Exhibit A. Free roadside chair:       Story time: My kids and I decided we would do some service together and visit some families in our area and take them cookies. We set out on a hot humid day...about 4:00 pm.  After about the 6th house we  drove to a friends that was close because my kids needed to use the restroom and their house was closer than ours. About 8 houses from theirs, we saw this beauty. I pulled over and asked the man on the porch if I could take it... he nodded and I squealed! We continued on our way. What's the point of my story?  Service. Seriously, you will be blessed when you serve others. Every time.  And that day, my blessing came in the form of this chair. story over.    I got the chair home and immediately set to work.  There's usually some obvious reasons it's on the side of the r...

Roadside Rescued Chest of Drawers!

I love a tall chest of drawers! Here's the story about this one:  My friend bought a new chest of drawers at Ikea for her sons room. My husband offered to assemble it for her. He fell in love with it.  He really liked it. So he came home and picked me up and had me check it out. Here it is, fully assembled:  Pretty great.  And around $100. I wager that if Ikea was less than 2 hours away,  we would have ran and got him one that day. Well, that was a Saturday... On the following Tuesday, (yes, 3 days later) my hubby came home with this treasure:      Apparently Trey Burnett III was done with this chest of drawers and they dumped it on the side of the road... therefore, this was FREE and in a great location! Hooray for patience and poorness! Well, not as ready to go as the Ikea dresser, but we were ready for a project! We sanded the ever-loving varnish and names off of it... trying desperately to get rid of the ...

LaLaLoopsy and My Little Pony Dollhouse from Shelf!

My daughter's hoard of Lalaloopsy dolls was steadily  growing...irresistible yard sales! And the dollhouse we made from an old shelf just wasn't holding all of them! But driving around one day, we found this shelf on someone's curb. I stashed it in the hatch and drove home. It's problem was that it was just plain dirty! So I scrubbed it up and spray painted it teal before I even took a before picture!  Now while that shelf dried, there was the problem of Lalaloopsy shoes continually falling off. Poor Tippy Tumbalina! Actually, poor me...I've spent lots of time retying these shoes...so  I took Tippy to my workshop...  And yes, used E6000 to glue those shoes right on her feet!  Just a small daub inside and presto!  And a little dot of glue right at the top of the ribbon knot... and the shoes and the feet lived happily ever after!  I love it when toys are organized!  Cute to look at and easy to play w...
