Play Sword Sheath and Belt DIY

Sword Sheath DIY This is a fun DIY for boys to hold their wooden swords or plastic swords while they play. My boys love swords.  I had this black buckle belt already so this was super easy. You can use any belt you have on hand or make one with webbing and a buckle. You will also need a hot pad holder and 2 strips of 1 inch webbing. I got these canvas hot pads from Oriental Trading . They stock everything for holidays, toys, novelties, crafts and DIY, parties and weddings! They stock lots of natural items for you to craft with and decorate. These pot holders are the perfect sheath! They have some terrific swords too! These would make a great kids party favor.  Fold over the webbing straps and pin on one side of the hot pad.  Sew the straps in place. Backstitch and sew several times to make a strong stitch.  Next, do a fun decorative stitch around the edge of the hot pad.  Trim the threads.  Fold in half and sew down t...

Earthworm Cupcakes! Harry Potter Week!

Earthworm Cupcakes!  Harry Potter Week! These wormy cupcakes are the perfect dessert for a Halloween or Harry Potter Party! These worms look so real, it's disturbing!  I used a cake mix and store bought frosting. I put the frosting in the mixer and whipped it up so it would be easier to pipe onto the cupcakes. Then I put it in a piping bag with a large star tip and just did a little swirl of frosting on each.  You could get really creative and crush some Oreo's to make dirt. Then I used these Realistic Gummy Worms from Oriental Trading Company . They are so realistic, it's scary.  I cut them in half. And stuck the cut end into the cake and then set the rest of the worm across the cupcake. They are awesome!  Great treat for a little boy's birthday party, Cub Scouts, Halloween dessert or like me, a Harry Potter Party! Slugulus Eructo! Eat Slugs! Leather Archery Bracers!

Leather Archery Bracers!  This little guy wanted some bracers for a long time and is thrilled to finally have some! They are great for costumes or cosplay. Great for archery too!  We used a piece of paper to trace out a pattern for his arm. Then cut it out of soft buttery leather.  Then used a pencil to draw where the elastics would lace up.  And lined it up with the other side.  Here's the shape and the markings.  Then punched a hole where the markings were.  And used black 1/4" elastic to lace them up like shoes.  Then they are easy to slide on and off! Perfection! Bracers that Legolas of the Woodland Realm would be proud of! Could be made of faux leather too! The elastic laces are the key to success here! This post published on Doodlecraft first
