Chalk Paint Vs Milk Paint

Chalk Paint Verses Milk Paint I tested out the chalk and milk paints from Plaid and FolkArt. They are both very satisfying paints with not a lot of hassle and the results are incredible!  I used 2 large wood frames from Plaid  Painted one with one layer of chalk paint and the other with one layer of milk paint. I love them.  Then I lightly sanded the edges on each.   Chalk Paint: Distresses well Is easy to apply, doesn't need primer Can be applied with a roller, brush or sprayer and has an ultra matte chalky finish Coated with wax (optional) for variety of finishes Layers colors easily Milk Paint: Gets better with age and self-distresses over time No fumes and can be washed out in the kitchen sink No sanding required Can be applied with a roller, brush or sprayer too Can get clumpy, so it doesn't last as long...get it and use it. Can be thinned with warm water and used as a wash or stain Better for the chippy look They are ...

Stars and Stripes Shirt with Faux Raglan Sleeves!

Stars and Stripes Shirt with Faux Raglan Sleeves! Isn't this the cutest patriotic shirt!? I love it.  I love the flag and the sleeves. Raglan sleeves are totally on point...these aren't raglan...but  give it a raglan look because the sleeves pop!  You will need: 1 tee shirt 1 fabric flag Red and white striped fabric Blue fabric  Take the fabric flag off the stick. Place on tee shirt. Use pins to secure it in place. Use a straight stitch to sew it onto the shirt. I go around it one time straight and a second time as a crazy stitch to give it a fun look. At this point, it's adorable and makes a great festive shirt for the month of July! We took it one step further. I found this H&M shirt at the thrift store...stripes on top and solid blue on the bottom. I turned this gray shirt inside out. Start by cutting the underarm seam. Then cut around the entire sleeve. You could use an unpicker, but cutting is faster. Just go ...

Captain America Patriotic Tie Dye Shirt!

Since Captain America 3 isn't scheduled to come out until next year plus! May 6, 2016... here's a little captain fix. Great for patriotic celebrations too! You will need:  a white 100% cotton t-shirt Blue and Red One Step Dyes Zip ties or rubber bands Freezer paper White paint Target or bullseye! (Just grab the shirt where you want the center of the target to be.  Then zip tie it and repeat for as many rings as you want!)    For Captain America...we need a center of blue Then a band of red, then white, red, white and red. So you will need 5 rubber bands...and 6 sections.  Now make sure your area is protected. I used a garbage bag with a baking rack on top.  Generously fill the banded areas with dye. Blue at the center...then 3 reds, leaving 2 white bands.  Turn it over and dye the other side.  Wrap it in a plastic bag carefully and let it sit overnight. Next day, rinse out the dye until the water runs cle...
