Gold or Silver Leaf Ornate Frames!

Update frames with Rub 'n Buff! I had this super shiny frame with a chalky mint patina... Some people love that look. I did not. I coated the entire thing with ebony... And let it dry...buffed it... Then took the gold leaf Rub 'n Buff and rubbed it all over the high surfaces. Rubbed or buffed it until it was shiny. I like the dark black showing through. Much more my style. The next was this fabulous resin frame. Pretty matte gray. I just used a little silver leaf and rubbed over the high places for a little shine. Then buffed it with a soft cloth. Perfect! Adds some depth! Last...white  I did these frames last month They were adorable...but knicked and cut. paint chipped. I just rubbed a bit of the white Rub 'n Buff onto the spots and it made them look absolutely new! Great way to fix up little blemishes on frames! Imagine the possibilities! AMACO   sent me 5 tubes of Rub 'n Buff.  I loved it so much I w...

Steampunk your Guns with Rub 'n Buff!

This is amazing! Welcome to Rub 'n Buff week!  I just discovered Rub 'n Buff Metallic Finishes. It's like a metallic wax paint. It rubs on and buffs to a shine. Great on loads of surfaces!  Plastic, wood, metal, vinyl, foam! This takes Halloween costumes to a WHOLE new level!  I was sent 5 shades of Rub 'n Buff from AMACO I loved it so much, I went and bought 3 more tubes of it at Hobby Lobby. My husband and kids want to try it on everything!  This handgun was the first project we tried. Here's the Before:  And the after!  I used a pea sized amount of the Spanish Copper for the top half of the gun. I ended up using about double the amount pictured below.  This first job I did with my bare fingers...next time I wore latex gloves. Use in a well ventilated area, it's got a strong scent. Just rub it all around. I used a stiff disposable paint brush to get into all the grooves.  Let the wax dry about 10 minu...

Upcycled Pickle Jar and Cake Stand updo!

Upcycled/Repurposed ugly things! 2 huge pickle jars cleaned with goo gone. psss...goo gone will also take off that "best by" date thing! I had this werid knob like thing for a while... and I glued it on a lid with E6000 I also had this giant goldy butterfly heart... so I glued it on a lid... Let them dry. I painted it gray...then took it to the workshop and spray painted it metallic gun metal! Perfecto! Doesn't even smell like pickles! Painted it sparkly teal! and presto! I love how ornate these lids are now! So fun! Now...what to fill them with??? Next was this plastic cloche cheese dome thing... I glue a candlestick to the bottom. Still very blah! And then painted it my "go to" color of AQUA! Much better! Moral of the story: Glue, paint and accessories! :) Linking up to THESE parties this week! ...
