Craft Room Tour: Doodlecraft

Craft Room Tour: Doodlecraft #keepingitreal Do you have a fun crafting space?  We have lived in many different houses and situations in our nearly 18 years of marriage, but one thing is the same: crafting space.  My husband and I are both huge into projects.  We love making, building, carving, renovating, crafting and mess making!  So a crafting space is a no-brainer for us.  Instead of just taking you on a craft tour of my current space, I'm going to show you a few houses and how we made our project space work. I'm part of Craft Room Tours 2018 Click here for the rest of the craft room tours ~ Years ago we ran our own business and lived in my in-law's basement.  We had a good amount of space but kept all the craft supplies in our bedroom.  It was large enough for a table and all my craft supplies packed in a wardrobe, the closet and under the bed.  Not a lot of space for clothes, but priorities, right!?  We moved to North Carol...

Front Door Refinishing!

Front Door Refinishing! This is just what I wanted for Christmas. ~ We bought our house in January and have done so much work renovating it. Check out these posts for more fun. Peacock Door Home Exterior Water Filter Living Room Bathroom Craft Room Kitchen Anyway, the front door was amazing but in terrible shape. The varnish was crusty and sharp. There were big gashes from dog claws. There was fading and chipping...ugly distressed. The door is awesome and I knew I didn't want to paint it...but it needed help. I love the Medusa Knocker and the little wrought iron glass window! It's so cool and gives the house so much character. I went off to a Calligraphy conpendium for a day of lettering and crafting with my daughter. And my husband and boys set off to impress us with their skills. They took the door off the hinges...removed the knocker, knobs, etc and set off to work. They used paint and epoxy rem...

Kitchen Reveal!!!

Kitchen Reveal!!! This is my favorite part of the house! This project also took the longest. When we walked through the house the first time I knew there was so much work to be done.  First off, I was not going to be confined in the kitchen/prison while everyone else had  loads of fun in the living room. Next, those cabinets...such a waste of space above them...they were ugly and painted dozens of times. I could have painted them again, but they still would look ugly. The oven was where the fridge should be...and the fridge was jammed in the corner so the freezer door couldn't even open all the way. I could not live like that.  So, first order of business was to remove this wall!  And quickly rip off all the cabinet doors. I have always loved the open shelf look. Always. I loved it before it was cool. I have a thing with slightly ajar doors...I know.  So, we enlisted some help from Mike's dad and uncle and they cut the wall op...
