Super Sci-Fi Rocket Fueled Jet Pack--Upcycled Craft DIY

I love upcycled crafts.  There is nearly nothing better than taking something destined for the landfill and turning into pure joy.  This Rocket Jet Pack is the perfect upcycled craft.

It's easy and quick to make!  You can add all the embellishments in the world, or just let it be the fuel for your child's imagination.

Perfect for party favors at a Space themed party, great to celebrate the lunar landing in 1969, or just to let a child whiz around the yard!

This craft promises to make you a better parent in less than 20 minutes.  There are days I am just rushing around, taking care of everything that I barely notice the people I love the most.

I know we've all been there.  This craft is the solution.  It doesn't take long and anyone can do it.  And the instant joy in your persons eyes is worth every minute!

With my son's imagination...I knew he needed some Jet Packs.  He loves to run.  He absolutely loves Boba Fett from Star Wars!  He loves the thought of flight.  And I like making things with little expense...especially if I know they are going to get flown around at top speed.

You guys...this is my baby, but these can be custom made to fit anyone of any size.

Made from a bunch of items you probably already have!  Check out the link above for the full tutorial.

  5. So cute. Going to use it for our space theme VBS. I'm teaching the 3 year olds.

Two questions: You spray the inside of the bottle? And how do you attach the last piece of webbing?

    Thanks!

    1. If you are doing puppets for VBS make some jet packs using 20 oz or 1 liter bottles instead of the 2 liter.

    1. Why not Princess Jet packs for space future. The Jetsons, am I too old for this blog? Lol. Pink felt. Even tulle or beads so easy. The beads could be the turbines powering up. Inside before the felt.

Not that you couldn't add pink glitter or something, but you really don't need to modify this for girls.

  32. If you paint the insides of the 2 leters, it might not kook as real, but the paint won't get rubed off from people handeling them, my rain, etc.

  34. absolutely girls can be astronauts. I sure wish someone would have made me one when I was a kid.. only I dont think two liter plastic bottles had been invented yet. Girls can rock these just as well as boys..they have imaginations, too, yanno.

  36. Just got the stuff to make this with my 5yo grandson. But he has informed me that there needs to be handle parts like Perry the Platypus has on his jetpack. But I am completely stumped as to what would hold up. Any ideas? If you are not sure who Perry is, here is his picture. http://www.elginpk.com/worsley1011_3/reny/yum.jpg

  37. This. Is. Awesome. My son has been asking me if jetpacks were "in the real world." Yes they are!

  38. What fun! My little superhero insisted on making a smaller version for his stuffed bear so they could be "super" together!
The only thing I'm doing differently is instead of using staples on the arm straps, I'm hot gluing them. Don't wanna take any chances with getting poked. :)
    Thanks for posting!
