 Joyful Anthropologie Inspired Pom-Pom Pillow!

This pom-pom pillow brings me so much joy! I just love the non-traditional holiday colors. I love the textures and the layers. The sparkles too!

There's nearly nothing that brings me as much joy as pom-pom trim.

Quick story: When I was about 16 years old, I attended a youth conference at Camp Williams (a nearby military base). My bestie, Kirsten and I were excited to be around the military atmosphere, so we went to Savers (thrift store) and bought Army camo pants.

The pants were very manly in shape and we decided we could fix that. We took them to my house and began embellishing them. We added florescent yellow triangle panels from the knee to the bottom hem to make them like bell bottoms.

To top them off, we added a green pom-pom trim around the bottom hem. Let's just say we stood out the most in our group and the military guys there loved it!

Back in October 2019, I was on an exotic vacation in Turks and Caicos, for Social Media on the Sand, (more details on that here) with 2 of my friends.

On our way home, we had a long layover in New York City. It was my first time in the city, so we stowed our luggage at the airport and took a cab into Manhattan. It was so much fun and gave us a mini vacation in conjunction with our tropical get-away.

It was rainy and cold, but that did not deter us from seeing everything we possibly could in that short amount of time. My favorite--or most inspiring thing was the Anthropologie window display. Look at this:

Gorgeous right!? Now you see where I got this pillow idea from! I was thrilled when I was asked to be part of Pillow Party 2019 with a big group of bloggers. (Don't worry, Pillow Party 2021 is coming soon!)

Supplies Needed for Joyful Pillow:

Fairfield World provided the 20" Pillow Inserts for me.
I bought the Pom-Pom Trimmed Pillow Cases on Amazon here. (affiliate link)

I designed this layout in photoshop and imported it into Cricut Design Space. I added the image in 3 times and then removed contours so I could get each letter in a different color. Right click to save off, personal use only please.

I cut the vinyl in Red, Yellow and Pink. The best part about this project is that I used what I had on hand and didn't have to buy anything apart from the pillowcase.

Line up the letters and then press with the EasyPress 2.

Let the vinyl cool and then peel off the carrier sheet.

Next I rounded up all the pom pom trim and goodies I could find. I also received these sparkly gold sequins.

I used the Fabri-Tac to adhere the pom pom trims to the pillow. This stuff is awesome!

Just add a line of adhesive and then press the trim in place. It adheres very quickly and takes all the stress of sewing out of the project! Yay!

I just kept adding pieces and finally sequins in strategic places on the letters, trying to mimic the Anthropologie Joyful window. If I had more energy, I would have used a needle and yarn to add more to it. But I am really pleased at the outcome and the small amount of effort involved!

I let the adhesive sit for a couple hours to be sure it worked and then inserted the pillow. I absolutely love how it turned out! Isn't it fun what a stroll through Manhattan will inspire?

They had a second window with the word "Cheer" spelled out...it was also cute, but the Joy-ful just melted my heart.
