YOU ARE AN ARTIST!

With just a few simple pieces, you can transform into Bob Ross with his “happy little accidents,” channel Leonardo da Vinci sketching the Mona Lisa, or even go bold like Van Gogh.

The costume comes together easily with a paint palette—often in a classic kidney-bean shape—splattered with dashes of bright paint, a few paint brushes, and maybe even a pearl earring for a clever nod to famous art.

Whether you’re pulling inspiration from an art teacher, favorite characters, or a gallery wall of icons, this easy costume is a labor of love that’s much fun to make and wear.

STEP 1: PAINT THE PALETTE

Begin by squeezing out some acrylic craft paint on the wood painters palette.

Space the daubs of paint evenly around the palette, using the colors of paint you like the best.

I went with a BRIGHTS rainbow!

I am using Plaid Multi-Surface Paints, they likely will NOT come off the palette when I am finished with my costume.

The palette can still be used with other acrylic paints and just layered over dry paint continually until the palette is a work of art!

STEP 2: PAINT THE APRON

Now take a little time to spread out the paint daub into a "artistic" blob on the palette.

Use the paint to begin painting something fun on the apron...it could just be paint daubs, like a messy apron or it could be a work of art!

Place a piece of cardboard under the bib of the apron while painting it.

Repeat the painting on the apron and the spreading out of the paint on the palette.

This is your artistic creation, so have fun and make it bold!

I used a little bit of every palette paint color on my apron, just adding some simple flowers and leaves.

Once your apron and palette masterpieces are completed, set them aside for 24 hours to dry completely.

Acrylic paint dries fast, but 24 hours is best to really let them set up--especially if the palette daubs are thick.

STEP 3: PAINTBRUSHES

Dip the bristles of some old, frayed paintbrushes into FolkArt Super Thick Acrylic Paint, in various colors.

Place them in a cup so they can dry, the paint will stay super thick, leaving a really cute prop style paintbrush!

Greek Goddess Costume

Make a metallic leather leaf laurel crown and pair it with a drapey white dress and rock some metallic  gladiator sandals.

Easy Halloween costumes are my jam.

I found this white dress at the thrift store for a few dollars and I searched long and hard for the perfect sandals...but that was the best part of the costume!

The majority of my costumes or cosplay comes from the thrift store. I scored this toga-like dress from Savers thrift and got the metallic knee-high Collin Stuart gladiator sandals from Mercari. I was on the hunt for these shoes all last year and couldn't find them...finally I got my hands on a pair--I love them! I love thrifting!
