Step 1: Gel Plate Printing with Stencils

Begin by removing the plastic sheet from the top and bottom of the flexible Gelli Arts gel plate.

Then add a small amount of paint to the top surface of the gel plate.

Roll the paint around the top surface until it is smooth, if it is too thin, it may lift off the paint as it dries too quickly...if the paint is too thick, it will have trouble making crisp prints.

Experiment a little to find the right amount of paint for your climate.

Step 2: Gel Plate Printing with Stencils

Now press the stencil onto the surface of the gel plate while the paint is still wet.

Cover with a piece of paper and press it firmly, but not hard, and careful not to let the stencil slide around on the paint (this may be an indication that there is too much paint on the gel plate).

Lift up the paper and check out your first print, then lift off the stencil and set it aside.

Let the paint on the gel plate dry completely, then coat a thin layer of acrylic paints over the top of it and then place a piece of paper on the gel plate.

Now, pull the print off the gel plate, by placing a piece of paper over the jelly plate and rub it firmly all over the top.

Then peel back the paper to reveal the print.

Repeat as many times as desired.
