Miss Frizzle Magic School Bus Copslay Halloween Costume

Did you watch The Magic School Bus? I was a little older when it came out, but you better believe that I still watched it. I love the Frizz and her eclectic fashion style. Miss Frizzle, from The Magic School Bus, complete with Liz, is the perfect cosplay for a fan event or costume for Halloween. It's simple to make and is fun to add some unique creative elements.

This fabulous Space Galaxy dress was the inspiration...I should have made some rocket shoes.

Supplies Needed:

Colorful Felt
Plaid Fabric Dimensional Paint
Hot Glue/Gun
Scissors
Plain Dress
3 Felt Balls
Pipecleaners
Chopsticks
Tote Bag
Iron on Vinyl (in yellow, blue and black)
Cricut Maker
EasyPress 2
EasyPress Mat
Stuffed lizard for Liz

Begin by cutting different sized circles out of felt. I used household objects in circle shape as my template.

Next use the dimensional fabric paint to add designs to each planet.

Add an especially fun and geeky flair with some of your own creations flying through space. My favorite, the TARDIS from Doctor Who.

Just add enough details with the fabric paint so the image is recognized.

Repeat the process for the Millennium Falcon as well, using a picture as a guide and pattern.

Simplify the details to make it just right.

Let the dimensional paint dry completely, like overnight. Cut a bunch of yellow felt stars too.

Next day, place some cardboard between the layers of the plain dress and hot glue each item on the dress.

Hot glue a felt collar to the neckline as well.

Then use the felt balls and pipecleaners to make little planets.

Use a needle to attach the planets to some thick thread or twine. Then hot glue the planets to the chopsticks so the planets dangle and orbit. Just wear your hair up and stick the chopsticks in your hair.

Next I found an image of a school bus on Cricut Design Space and cut out yellow, blue and black iron on vinyl.

Then use the EasyPress 2 to iron on the layers one at a time.

Now the School Bus is represented...and it's AWESOME to have a tote for conventions, trick-or-treating or just to stash you stuff.

Plus, check out these GALAXY SHOES:
Paint some shoes to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing on July 20th, 1969! These shoes are out of this world and look amazing. Painting shoes is simple and is a great way of upcycling old shoes with scuffs or stains.

I found Liz at the local thrift store and ran her through the washing machine. :)
