Supplies Needed for Watercolor Florals Sublimation Tumblers:

Supplies Needed for Watercolor Florals Sublimation Tumblers: Watercolor Floral Sublimation Printables Sublimation Oven 30 Ounce Skinny Straight Walled Tumblers Epson Ecotank Printer Converted to Sublimation Sublimation Paper Heat Gun Shrink Plastic Heat Resistant Tape Heat Resistant Tape Dispenser (optional but super nice) Lint Roller

Step 1: Prep the Tumblers

Begin by opening up the 30 ounce tumblers, they are smooth and white, coated with the sublimation surface to receive the ink.

I love the skinny, straight walled tumbler variety and they are the easiest to wrap a sublimation paper around without tapering.

Roll a lint roller on the tumblers to remove any lint, dust and debris.

Then remove the lids from the sublimation tumblers.

Step 2: Wrap Sublimation Paper

Then trim the edges of the printed sublimation paper.

Then wrap it with the ink side in, around the tumbler.

Use the heat resistant tape to secure it tightly.

Continue taping each edge of the paper.

The more firmly it's pressed against the tumbler the better the print will turn out.

I love this tape dispenser.

It's so easy to load and get little measured pieces of tape without a big hassle or two hands.

It's perfect for doing sublimation work.

Step 3: Shrink Plastic

Cover the sublimation tumbler with a shrink plastic sleeve and use the heat gun to melt it down firmly to tightly hold the tumbler.

Step 4: Sublimation Oven

Then set the oven to 365 degrees and the timer to 6 minutes.

For some reason I can't get my oven to hit exact numbers, but it has ranges...so this is as close as it gets and it works great.

Place the tumblers in the oven and press the timer button in to start the oven.

It will heat up, and once it reaches temperature, it will beep several times and then start the timer countdown.

After it completes the amount of time, it will beep again and power off.

Unplug the oven and open the door to cool down the tumblers.

Step 5: Reveal

After the tumblers are nice and cool, peel off all the wrappings, tape, paper and layers.

This part is surprisingly tedious to me...it might be super satisfying to some people.

That's it!

Now it's time to replace the lid, add the straw and then admire!

I love how they turned out--the seams are a little obvious, but the watercolor background helps them blend in pretty naturally.

The sublimation prints are so dull, yet so vibrant as soon as they are heated and gassed onto the sublimation blanks!

Do you have a sublimation printer?

Have you tried all the fun things that sublimation offers?

Tumblers are just the beginning of all the fun things you can make, create and even sell.

I have been doing sublimation work for nearly 2 years.

There's a bit of a learning curve, like you have to use your printer at LEAST once a week or the hoses will clog up and it's a big pain to get it back on track.

I used one printer for about a year and then it broke and there was no fixing it and the warranty was expired and it was really frustrating...it's a big expense to get set up, so make sure you are ready for the maintenance required to help your tools last.

Once you are set up, the sky is the limit!

There are so many fun things to sublimate!
