How to Make Grinch Hershey's Kisses Wrapper into Badge
If your holiday season includes sweet treats and a little crafty fun, this project is going to make your heart grow three sizes! 💚
Today we’re upcycling Hershey’s Kisses Grinch-themed candy wrappers into adorable button badges using the Badge-a-Minit 1.25" button machine.
These little Grinchy pins are shiny, festive, and totally unique — perfect for adding a personal touch to Christmas gifts, stockings, or even holiday party favors.
They’re also a clever way to reuse candy wrappers instead of tossing them out.
Let’s get into this step-by-step guide for making your own Grinch candy wrapper badges!
Supplies You’ll Need for Grinch Badge Buttons:
- Grinch Hershey’s Kisses wrappers (carefully opened and saved!)
- Mini heat press (or regular iron on low heat)
- 1.25" button machine
- Button supplies (front shell, mylar cover, and pin back)
- 1.5" circle punch
- Scrap paper or parchment paper (for pressing wrappers)
- Scissors (optional for trimming edges)
The badge press I'm using is discontinued.
I'm linking the one I would buy, if I needed a new one.
It comes with a press and the interchangeable fittings for 1.25" and the 2.25" buttons, plus the shells, mylar and pin backs.
Step 1: Open & Save Those Wrappers Carefully
Before you unwrap your Grinch Hershey’s Kisses, pause and open them slowly!
Try to keep the foil as intact as possible.
Smooth each one out gently with your fingers, then flatten them completely on a table.
The Grinchy green foils make the perfect base for holiday crafting — especially when they feature those cute little Grinch faces or themed prints.
Step 2: Iron the Wrappers Flat
Wrinkled foil is part of the charm, but a little smoothing makes your button badges look polished and professional.
Set your mini heat press (or iron) to low heat. Place each wrapper between two sheets of parchment paper or plain scrap paper.
Press lightly for a few seconds — just enough to relax the foil and remove creases. Don’t overheat, or the delicate foil could lose its shine.
✨ Tip: You can flatten several wrappers at once if you keep the layers thin and even.
Step 3: Punch Out Your Wrappers
Now grab your 1.5" circle punch and cut perfect circles from your flattened wrappers.
Align the punch so the Grinch face or logo is centered — that’s your main design focus. Each wrapper is a little different, so have fun choosing which ones to use!
The 1.5" circle fits beautifully into a 1.25" Badge-a-Minit button, allowing just enough foil to wrap around the edges.
Step 4: Assemble the Button
Now comes the magic moment — pressing your shiny new Grinch buttons!
Stack your materials in this order inside the Badge-a-Minit press:
Follow the directions for your button maker press!
- Metal front shell
- Grinch candy wrapper circle
- Clear mylar cover
Press together then add:
Metal pin back
Once everything’s centered, squeeze the press handles firmly together until you hear that click of success!
Lift it out — and there it is: a gleaming Grinch Hershey’s Kiss badge button, straight from Whoville!
Step 5: Display or Gift Your Grinch Badges
These cute, shiny holiday pins make fantastic stocking stuffers, classroom gifts, or Christmas party favors. Pin them on jackets, backpacks, or even gift tags for a creative touch.
They’re also an adorable DIY Grinch Christmas craft to pair with other Grinch decor — like a Grinch wreath, Grinch Christmas tree ornament, or even a themed candy display.
Bonus Idea: Make a whole set of matching green and silver buttons for a Grinch-themed gift exchange or white elephant party!
Step 6: Share the Holiday Cheer
This upcycled candy wrapper project is not only adorable — it’s also eco-friendly and a fun way to get crafty during the Christmas holidays.
Each button has its own unique shine and character, making it a thoughtful handmade gift or the perfect little extra in a holiday gift exchange.
You can repeat this process with all the specialty Hershey's candy kisses wrappers, there are so many fun choices...and that means eating a bunch of chocolate!
