How Make a Balloon Garland Cake Topper!

Make a super cute and simple cake topper using balloons. This balloon cake topper is perfect for matching a party theme or adding a little extra to a celebration!

Cakes are the crowning piece of any party or celebration at my house! I just love how cute they are, easy to cut up and share...great to freeze for later...and easy to customize for any party theme.

Supplies Needed for Balloon Garland Cake Topper:

Step 1: Balloon Inflation

Begin by gently inflating a balloon until it's just about the size of a fist. Even a 12 inch balloon will inflate very small.

Tie the balloon end in a knot.

Step 2: Repeat!

Repeat gently inflating balloons in a variety of sizes. Make some of them smaller and some a little larger, depending on the size of the cake.

My cake is 6 inch round, so 7 small balloons worked perfectly!

Step 3: Tie on Twine!

Now take a piece of bakers twine a little more than twice as wide as your cake. My twine is about 16 inches long.

Tie the balloons on the twine as close together as you can without a lot of stress. Then tie the 2 ends to skewers.

Just overhand knots is all it takes to hold them in place for a gorgeous celebration piece!

Now stick the skewers into the cake at a slight angle so the balloon garland is pulled tight and dangles high above the toppings on the cake.
