Craft Foam Bookmarks made with Cricut Maker Knife Blade

The Cricut Maker 3 is so versatile and has an array of adaptive tools that make every project a cinch!  The Cricut Adaptive Tool System as well as 10X the power is the secret to the amazing properties of the Maker, with the knife blade, rotary blade, and scoring wheels.

I am in love with the Cricut Knife Blade and its many uses.  The knife blade can cut leather, basswood, balsa wood, chipboard, matte board, faux leather and craft foam.  This craft foam bookmark is so quick and perfect for a first try at the Cricut Knife Blade.

If you haven't used the knife blade before, begin by inserting your knife blade into the Maker and calibrate your blade in Cricut Design Space.

Supplies Needed for Foam Bookmarks:

  • The Cricut Maker is unlike any other cutting machine.  It's powerful, it has the ultimate cutting ability and has incredible versatility!
  • Knife Blade (compatible to cut materials as thick as 2.4mm)
  • Craft Foam
  • Metallic Vinyl
  • Yarn
  • Painters Tape
  • Cricut Design Space (Just design a rectangle that is 1.5x5 inches with a small circle in the center top and search for images to cut out of vinyl for the design)

Step 1: Tape Down Foam

Tape down the craft foam to the mat.  Push the white star guides all the way to the right side of the machine rod.

Step 2: Cricut Maker Settings

Set the Maker to cut Craft Foam and click the start button.

After the Knife Blade cuts them out, check and see if they are cut all the way through.  Mine were.  If they need more cutting, just click the go button again.

Then remove the mat from the machine and the foam from the mat. Remove the excess foam for these darling bookmarks.

Step 3: Fine Point Blade

Insert the fine point blade in the machine and cut the metallic vinyl shapes.

Make sure it's set to metallic vinyl and "more" depth.

Remove the mat from the machine and the vinyl from the mat. Weed the excess vinyl from the images.

Step 4: Transfer Vinyl

Then use transfer paper to set the stickers on the foam bookmarks. trim the edges of the vinyl so it fits perfectly on the foam bookmark.

I love the copper and black contrast...but use any colors you like!

They are shiny and perfect.

Step 5: Tassels

Add a loop of yarn, a tassel or ribbon for the perfect finishing touch to your bookmark.
