Creative Gift Wrapping: Wrapped Open Box

Creative gift wrapping is my favorite thing this time of year.  I have an outpouring of boxes (thanks to online shopping)...but they don't always fit the gifts I'm giving.

This is a great way to wrap something that you want visible, is too big for the box you own, or just to show off your amazing gift giving.  Works great for bringing dinner over to a family too...just wrap the open box so it looks much prettier than just a box, but they don't have to return it.

Supplies Needed to Wrap an Open Box:

1 Cardboard Box (with the top flaps cut off)
Wrapping Paper
Clear Tape
Adhesive Roller Tape

If you are fortunate to find wrapping paper with grid lines on the backside, this will be a snap.

Step 1: Cut Paper

Begin by cutting a piece of wrapping paper that fits the box on the four sides.  Then cut the corner of the wrapping paper to the corner of the box in a 90 degree angle, like pictured:

Repeat cutting the corners on all four corners.

Step 2: Fold

Fold down the edge of the paper flap about an inch or so.

Step 2: Tape

Apply the adhesive tape on the wrapping paper on all the edges and across the top.

Step 3: Wrap

Wrap it up over the box and tuck the flap inside the box.

Repeat this process for all 4 sides.

Now the box is covered all over the outside of the box and can be filled with all sorts of goodies. You can take the time to cut pieces to fit inside the box as well.

Just cut a panel of wrapping paper the size of the box side and tape it inside.

Step 4: Fill with Goodies!

I included a Watercolor gift pack:

Adult Coloring gift pack:

Hand Lettering gift pack:

And Painting gift pack...with some stickers:

Stacked the tall way inside the open box for the cutest gift imaginable!  I love receiving craft supplies, so this is my kind of gift!

Wrap up boxes for organization inside the home too. Boxes can be wrapped to store magazines, craft supplies, office supplies and even clothing!  Great way to upcycle some old boxes!
