Diablo 2 Necromancer Costume!

We love Diablo 2 (and 3) video games! And we have a 10 year old boy who wanted  needs a cool costume! This is the Necromancer from Diablo 2. Of course you customize the armor as you play the game... so we based the costume off our favorite elements! source Here he is with his little skeleton warrior minion! Okay, this was a costume my hubby made for himself  for Halloween 10 years ago! It was a hit then!  And now our son is big enough to wear it!  Love that!  (this is why we save costumes right?) It was made from skull decorations, paper mache, old computer keyboard keys, Black leather, chains, rope and a huge spider!  :) Perfect Halloween Costume for the video game player! And it will be great if we ever make it to comic con!  :) Happy Halloween! Linking up to THESE parties this week!

Gravestones from Garbage!

We made Gravestones for the yard! First, we lifted these 2 pieces of styrofoam out of our friend's garbage...  Drew out a pattern with a sharpie... And busted out the foam cutter, heat knife!  You need one of these! Use in well ventilated area, the fumes from cutting styrofoam can be harmful. We had the garage door open. We let the 10 and 8 year old's do them...  The cutter melts the foam like butter--and no irritating SQUEAKY sound! Then I mixed 1 part paint with 1 part elmers glue and  told the kids to coat the front and sides with the mixture.   This will give it a layer for the spray paint to  adhere to without melting it!   Then we sprayed them black, gray and silver for the perfect headstone!  Used wooden dowels as stakes and pounded them into the yard! Fun and Free little Halloween Decoration! Linking up to THESE parties this week!

Easy Monkey Piggy-Back-Ride Costume!

We made this costume back in 2003 for son #1. He was 1 and a half...but walked at 8 months. Because it was the olden days...we have  very few and very grainy pictures of it! And no step by step pictures! Son #2 wore it when he was 1 and a half. He didn't walk until he was 14 months... so at this stage, he HATED it. But I managed to snap some pics in our basement. awesome red eyes!          To redeem himself...I forced my 4 year old into the  suit once again to take some better pictures. It did not fit...but we managed to squeeze his  skinny legs in there!       Okay here is what we used to make it. *Stuffed Gorilla/Monkey toy (about same size as child wearing it) *2 pairs of sweat pants that fit the child *1 pair of overalls that fit the child *pair of white child socks *pair of black daddy socks *stuffing *elastic, needle and thread, scissors   We started by cutting open the back of the monkey toy.
